Mesh Size and Count:

Mesh size denotes the number of openings per inch. Example: 18x16 mesh has 18 yarns vertically (warp) and 16 yarns horizontaly (fill) per each square inch of the cloth.

Warp refers to the foundation wires that runs lengthwise with the cloth. The wire strands that are woven into the warp are called "fill," and run across the width of the cloth.

Diameter is the measurement assigned to a specific yarn thickness.

FIBERGLASS INSECT SCREENING

FIBERGLASS - Phiferglass fiberglass screening is constructed of vinyl-coated fiberglass yarns. Phiferglass is strong, long lasting and is not easily damaged, which makes it virtually the "carefree screening." Fiberglass screening is available in a choice of several meshes and colors. It is the original equipment on many windows, particularly those windows which have "half-screens," and on many storm windows. Phiferglass is also the ideal choice for large patio enclosures and for pool enclosures.

BetterVue is Phifers first excellent visibility insect screen for windows, doors and porches. This screening product does for windows and doors what high-definition technology has done for television viewing: it maximizes the view by making it sharper and more brilliant. BetterVue excellent visibility insect screening is engineered to provide a sharp view without sacrificing strength and durability in the process. Phifer designed a 20x20 square mesh for optical clarity and chose the .008 core yarn to reduce the risk of damage. Although a 1mm smaller yarn diamenter was considered in research and development, the risk of field failure and product liability was higher, and no gain was found in visibility. The human eye cannot easily distinguish the difference of 1mm, so no part of the improved view has been forfeited in favor of material strenght and durability. >View >Order
